The answer to fridge clutter?

I'm thinking this could be a great idea or a big mistake....
Magnetic primer on the inside of my pantry doors. A way to keep the fridge clutter free? Lowe's had one can left on the shelf.
Eeeewwwww! Sludge! It says to stir until the color is solid. This can of primer is very heavy and the bottom half is filled with a thick tar like substance. I stirred and stirred.
Finally it looked like this...black ink!

Here is a peek at the lower pantry door with two coats. Two light coats would hold a small magnet barely. I have now applied six coats and will try it out again tomorrow morning. Once I have enough coats of the primer I can paint over it with a latex paint or chalkboard paint. No decision made on that yet. Feel free to voice your opinion. The polls are open for votes.

That is a good idea. Put it on pretty thickly. The Curves where I go tried it and it didn't work. But they put it on concrete block walls. Good luck. Love your blog.

Hmm, doesn't sound promising, does it? Did you keep your receipt?
When we were getting our old house ready to sell, there were some worn spots on the bathroom cab mirror that I tried Mirror spray paint on. Didn't work. But, there was a guarantee on it, so I returned it and got my money back.
I know that stuff was expensive- so hope you have this option if it still doesn't work.

Please, no chalkboard paint...oh horror...well, maybe just for me...I have a complete meltdown around chalkboards, just on the off chance that a pc of chalk will squeal across it or heaven forbid, a fingernail (SHUDDER).
Do the directions say anything about how many coats it should take to get a really magnetic surface?
I sent you an email showing you my latest project, btw. :) xo

This looks like a great idea! I'm so tired of the stuff on the fridge. ☺

I really hope it works, Kat! Such a great idea. I used to tape stuff to the insides of my cabinet doors before the kitchen remodel. Now I only have 1 narrow cab door that I can use, so now I have stuff on the fridge again. ugh!

I love chalkboard paint, too. My office's closet doors are painted and my grands use them a lot for drawing, hangman, doing math problems. So fun!

I'm thinking it probably would have been easier just to buy some roof flashing and nail it on there....*ducking* ;)

Well....this was a mistake. The product holds a magnet but cant handle a magnet with memos. I guess if you wanted to display a collection or let a child play with magnetic letters it would be fine.
Sharon you were pretty close to my second idea. lol! Should have done this first so much easier.
I purchased panels of 22 gauge steel and used spray adhesive to attach them to the recessed door centers inside the pantry. Works great and looks good too. Len spray Hammerite in silver to keep them from rusting.

I expect you to share the chalkboard paint love.
I will attempt to be creative, and probably fail miserably when I get bored with it after five minutes.
Damn having the attention span of a beetle.
